Many CaDAS members are interested in astrophotography. They are capable of taking very high quality images with relatively inexpensive equipment, often as good if not better than professionally produced pictures. Below are a selection of members images currently available.

M81 & M82, small hours of 23-Jan-10 a very windy cold night, hence only 4 decent 4min subs without "seagulls" for stars. Celestron C8 on HEQ5 PRO mount at prime focus (unguided, but PEC control), with f/6.3 focal reducer ISO 800 on Canon 1000D DSLR. Too tired to take flats, so stacked in DeepSkyStacker, artificial flat luminosity layer created in PhotoShop. |
